What Is Invisalign And How Does It Work?

Invisalign treatment uses clear plastic aligners, a bit like a mouthguard, which are almost completely invisible to straighten your teeth. This treatment is used to shift your teeth into a more uniform shape.

When you go for your initial Invisalign appointment, your dentist will take photos and X-rays of your teeth. This will enable the technician to create your customised aligners, which will exert just enough pressure on your teeth to move them to the desired position.

You will be provided with several sets of personalised aligners, which you should change approximately every two weeks.

You will need to wear your aligners all the time, except to eat and drink and brush and floss your teeth.

You will have appointments with your dentist every six to eight weeks to check your progress and to get your next sets of customised aligners.

Invisalign Vs Braces

Invisalign treatment uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move teeth as part of an orthodontic treatment plan. The aligners are designed to be less noticeable than traditional metal braces.

The aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, allowing you to maintain your usual oral hygiene routine while following your dentist or treatment instructions. Whereas braces are worn 24/7 and are usually more noticable.
