Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry CCTV Policy

Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to regulate the use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and its associated technology in the monitoring of the internal and external areas of the Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry. The CCTV system is intended to enhance security, promote health and safety, prevent bullying, reduce crime and assist in identifying and prosecuting offenders.

Scope:

This policy applies to the use of CCTV and the monitoring, recording, and subsequent use of recorded material at the Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry.

General Principles:

The Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry has a responsibility for the protection of its property, equipment, and individuals on its premises. CCTV systems and their associated monitoring and recording equipment are used as an added mode of security and surveillance. The use of CCTV will be conducted in a professional, ethical, and legal manner and any unauthorized use of CCTV is prohibited by this policy. Information obtained through the CCTV system may only be released when authorized by the Practice Principal.

Justification for Use of CCTV:

The Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry justifies the use of CCTV for security purposes. The system is intended to capture images of intruders or individuals damaging property or removing goods without authorization. CCTV systems are not intended to be used to monitor clinician-patient activities.

Location of Cameras:

Cameras are placed to record external and internal areas and are positioned in a way to prevent or minimize the recording of individuals outside of the premises or on private property.

Covert Surveillance:

The Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry will not engage in covert surveillance.

Notification and Signage:

The Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry will provide a copy of this CCTV policy on request to staff, patients, and visitors. Adequate signage will be placed at each location where a CCTV camera is situated to indicate that CCTV is in operation. Prominent signage will also be displayed at the entrance to the Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry.

Storage and Retention:

CCTV recordings will be stored securely and retained for a maximum of 60 days, unless they are part of an ongoing investigation. After this time, recordings will be deleted.

Access to Recordings:

Access to CCTV recordings will be restricted to authorized personnel only. Any requests for access to recordings from external parties, including law enforcement, must be made in writing and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Policy Review:

This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis or as required. Any changes to the policy will be communicated to all relevant parties.
