This 58 Year Old Farmer had lost numerous teeth over the years and had severe wear. The wear got worse the more teeth he lost because the pressure became more concentrated on whatever teeth he had left.
When he came to see us in 2008 his teeth had worn down almost to the pulps of the teeth. We removed his teeth ad rehabilitated him with upper and lower All-On-4 dental implants.
Wearing of teeth is also a sign that a patient may be grinding during sleep, or excessive natural muscle tone in normal function. In such cases it is important for the patient to wear an occlusal splint at nights to protect the teeth from continued wear or breakages, even with implant treatment. In some cases it may be necessary to upgrade to materials such as Zirconia, which is much stronger and more durable.
